UPDATE: Pembroke Police Release Photo of Potential Witness in Jaleel Sinclair Homicide Investigation

PEMBROKE, N.C. — The Pembroke Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man investigators believe may have critical information in the ongoing homicide investigation into the death of Jaleel Sinclair.

Sinclair was fatally shot during the early morning hours of July 4, 2026, in downtown Pembroke while the city was hosting its annual Lumbee Homecoming festivities.

As detectives continue pursuing leads, the department has released a photograph of a man they are seeking to identify. Authorities stressed that the individual is not considered a suspect, but rather a potential witness who may have information that could assist investigators in determining what happened.

Pembroke Police Chief Adrian Hunt said detectives remain focused on identifying those responsible and ensuring a thorough investigation.

“The Pembroke Police Department understands the concern this incident has caused within our community,” Hunt said in a statement. “We remain fully committed to conducting a professional, impartial and exhaustive investigation.”

Police said detectives are utilizing all available investigative resources and working alongside law enforcement partners to examine evidence, interview witnesses, and follow credible leads.

The department also extended its condolences to Sinclair’s family and loved ones, reaffirming its commitment to seeking justice in the case.
