Harold’s Chicken Responds to Questions Over Waukegan Location’s Authorization Status

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — The owners of the upcoming Harold’s Chicken location in Waukegan are pushing back against recent social media claims questioning whether the restaurant is an authorized Harold’s Chicken Shack franchise.

In a statement provided to the public, the business said the owner operates multiple authorized Harold’s Chicken Shack, Inc. locations and that the Waukegan restaurant is also an authorized retailer.

“The claims made on recent social media posts are inaccurate and were not issued by Harold’s Chicken Shack, Inc. or any authorized corporate representative,” the statement reads.

The restaurant also said that because it believes false statements about its business could have legal consequences, the matter has been referred to its legal team. The owners say they are prepared to provide documentation supporting their authorized status if necessary.

The statement further claims that information circulating online originated from an account that is no longer operated by or affiliated with Harold’s Chicken Shack, Inc. corporate, and urged customers to rely on official corporate communications for accurate information.

As part of its response, the business shared a document from the Illinois Appellate Court showing that a notice of appeal was filed in a legal case involving the parties. The filing indicates that an appeal was docketed, though it does not itself resolve the underlying dispute.

Although the restaurant has not yet opened, the owners say they look forward to serving the community and providing what they describe as the authentic Harold’s Chicken Shack experience.
