A new comment from Dr. Mehmet Oz is drawing major reactions online after the television personality and Trump administration official publicly said the administration hopes to create “more Trump babies.”

During a White House maternal healthcare event focused on fertility access and lowering prescription drug costs, Oz discussed efforts to reduce the price of infertility treatments and expand access to IVF services for American families.

“As the services get better, we make them more affordable, we’ll have more Trump babies,” Oz said during the event.

The phrase quickly spread across social media, with critics calling the wording unsettling, politically charged, and overly nationalistic. Others questioned whether the administration’s growing focus on increasing birth rates is tied to broader conservative “pronatalist” policies encouraging Americans to have more children.

Supporters of the administration defended the remark, arguing that Oz was simply referring to helping families afford fertility care during a time when birth rates in the United States continue to decline.

The moment gained even more attention after ABC’s The View discussed the comment during Tuesday’s episode, where co-hosts debated whether the phrase carried deeper social or political implications.

The Trump administration has recently pushed several family-focused initiatives, including expanded IVF access, reduced infertility drug pricing, newborn savings programs known as “Trump Accounts,” and new maternal healthcare outreach efforts.

As debate continues online, the phrase “Trump babies” has rapidly become one of the administration’s most viral — and controversial — soundbites of the year.
