A ceremony featuring evangelical leaders and supporters of President Donald Trump is drawing widespread attention online after a towering gold-painted statue of Trump was unveiled at Trump National Doral in Florida this week.

Videos circulating across social media show pastors, guests, and political supporters gathered around the statue during what organizers described as a dedication and blessing ceremony. The statue depicts Trump standing with one arm raised while draped in flowing fabric resembling a ceremonial sash.

Among those present was pastor and longtime Trump ally Mark Burns, who reportedly led prayers during the event and defended the statue against criticism online. Burns stated the tribute was intended to symbolize resilience, patriotism, and what supporters describe as divine protection over Trump’s political journey.

The statue was reportedly funded through individuals connected to a pro-Trump crypto and political movement rather than through any official government initiative. Reports also claim Trump called into the gathering by phone during the ceremony.

The event quickly sparked backlash and debate online, particularly among Christians and political commentators who compared the imagery to the biblical “golden calf” story found in the Book of Exodus. Critics argued the ceremony blurred the line between political admiration and religious symbolism, while supporters dismissed the criticism as overreaction and media sensationalism.

The unveiling comes amid continued strong support for Trump among many evangelical voters heading deeper into the 2026 political cycle.
