INGLESIDE, Ill. — An overnight disturbance inside an Ingleside home turned deadly Friday morning after an adult man was found fatally shot, prompting a homicide investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at approximately 3:10 a.m. Friday, July 24, to the 25900 block of West Laneville Drive after receiving reports of a disturbance in progress. While deputies were en route, 911 telecommunicators learned that someone inside the residence had been shot and that the person believed to have fired the weapon was still armed.

Deputies arrived within minutes and located an individual matching the suspect’s description outside the home. The individual was taken into custody without incident, and deputies recovered a firearm from the suspect.

As deputies secured the scene, they safely evacuated numerous people from inside the residence, including several children. During a search of the home, they discovered an adult man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the residence and has scheduled an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The suspected shooter remains in custody while Lake County Sheriff’s detectives continue investigating what led to the fatal shooting. As of Friday evening, no criminal charges had been filed, and investigators have not released the identities of either the victim or the suspect.
