Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) is calling for members of President Donald Trump’s administration to consider invoking the 25th Amendment, arguing the president is unfit to serve following reports about his conduct during a recent military operation.

Goldman’s comments came after a report summarizing claims that Trump was kept out of a command room while the U.S. military attempted to rescue two airmen downed in Iran. According to the report, aides were concerned that the president’s behavior and impatience could interfere with the sensitive operation.

Reacting on social media, Goldman wrote that the commander-in-chief was allegedly excluded from overseeing a military mission because he was “acting so crazy,” adding that the situation should concern the American public.

“Trump is not well,” Goldman said. “We need the 25th Amendment before something really bad happens on U.S. soil.”

The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare a president unable to carry out the duties of office, temporarily transferring power to the vice president as acting president. If contested, Congress would then decide the matter, requiring a two-thirds vote in both chambers to uphold the decision.

Goldman is not the only lawmaker raising the issue. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) have also recently referenced the amendment while criticizing Trump’s rhetoric and decision-making.

Supporters of the president have dismissed such remarks as partisan political attacks, while critics argue the statements reflect growing concern over leadership stability during heightened international tensions.

The White House has not publicly responded to Goldman’s latest comments.
