Singer’s representative confirms he was not aboard the aircraft involved in the tragedy that killed nine people.
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Lenny Kravitz’s representatives are setting the record straight after false reports circulated online claiming the Grammy-winning musician was among nine people killed in a devastating plane crash in South Florida.
The rumors emerged following a November 1 accident involving a Learjet 60 that crashed in a residential area near Greenacres in Palm Beach County. The private aircraft was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it went down, killing all nine people aboard.
As news of the tragedy spread, social media users began sharing claims that Kravitz, 62, had been traveling on the aircraft.
However, the singer’s representative, Carleen Donovan, quickly dismissed the speculation, describing the reports as “untrue and incorrect.”
The confusion reportedly originated from social media screenshots suggesting that a female pilot, Emily Shelton, was scheduled to transport Kravitz along a similar flight route.
Some online users mistakenly connected Shelton to the aircraft involved in the crash, leading to widespread speculation about the singer’s whereabouts.
Shelton subsequently addressed the situation on TikTok, confirming that she was neither the pilot nor co-pilot of the aircraft.
She also urged social media users to stop spreading misinformation and show respect for those affected by the tragedy.
The crash has drawn national attention as investigators work to determine what caused the aircraft to go down.
According to reports, the flight crew encountered icing conditions and turbulence before the plane began rapidly descending.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Although Kravitz was not involved in the crash, the incident claimed nine lives and left families mourning their loved ones.
The situation also highlights how quickly unverified information can spread online during breaking news events, particularly when prominent public figures become the subject of speculation.
