Man Killed in Overnight Stabbing Under Investigation in North Chicago

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. — North Chicago police are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 34-year-old man early Sunday morning on the city’s south side.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:20 a.m. to the 600 block of 10th Street, near Adams Street, after receiving reports of a stabbing. When first responders arrived, they located a man suffering from at least one stab wound. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he later died from his injuries. 

The victim has been identified only as a 34-year-old North Chicago resident, though officials have not yet publicly released his name pending family notification. 

Detectives with the North Chicago Police Department remained at the scene for several hours collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Crime scene tape surrounded part of 10th Street, including a Jeep Liberty parked near where investigators focused their search. Authorities have not announced any arrests, identified a suspect, or disclosed what may have led to the deadly confrontation. 

Police say the investigation remains active and are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the North Chicago Police Department.

The homicide marks another violent incident for the city this summer, as investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened during the overnight altercation. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to come forward.
