Janet Jackson is celebrating another major global moment.

The music icon recently wrapped a successful return to Japan with four sold-out arena shows, further proving the strength of her international fanbase more than four decades into her career.

Jackson performed to packed audiences across Yokohama and Kobe, including shows at K Arena Yokohama and GLION Arena Kobe.

The celebration did not stop on stage. Jackson also teamed up with Japanese supergroup BE:FIRST for a surprise remix of her classic hit “Doesn’t Really Matter.” The remix quickly shot to No. 1 on Japan’s iTunes all-genre chart within an hour of its release.

For Jackson, the moment carries a deeper meaning. The original “Doesn’t Really Matter” has long held a special connection with Japanese fans, making the remix feel like a full-circle celebration.

“Japan has always been part of my journey,” Jackson said. “Experiencing Japanese culture from such a young age helped shape a part of me and my understanding of the world. This moment with BE:FIRST reminds me that culture is the through line of our human experience, and I’m honored to continue building that connection in a place that has always held a special place in my heart.”

BE:FIRST also reflected on the significance of sharing the stage with Jackson, calling the experience a dream come true.

“We first dreamed of becoming musicians simply by listening to Janet’s music, so sharing the stage with her on the 14th was truly a dream come true for us,” the group said.

They added that performing “Doesn’t Really Matter (Remix)” live with Jackson reminded them of the power of perseverance.

“If we never give up, moments this beautiful await us,” BE:FIRST said. “It made us incredibly proud of our journey and our amazing fans. We are deeply grateful to Janet and her entire team, and we will channel everything we learned from this unforgettable experience into creating our next chapter of music.”

Between the sold-out arena shows, the cross-generational collaboration, and the remix’s fast chart success, Jackson’s latest Japan chapter stands as another reminder of her lasting global impact.

For fans, it is not just a victory lap. It is proof that Janet Jackson’s influence continues to reach new audiences around the world.
