BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. — Authorities are investigating after three people died following a well-being check at a residence in Buffalo Grove.

According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of Timber Hill Road around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a request to conduct a welfare check at the home. Upon arrival, officers discovered two people deceased inside the residence.

A third individual was located at the home and transported to a local hospital by paramedics. That person later died at the hospital.

Police said the two people found dead inside the home were an elderly married couple in their 80s. The third person who died was a man in his 60s.

Investigators said the couple had been enrolled in a hospice program, and a representative from that program requested the welfare check.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to both the residence and the hospital as part of the investigation.

Authorities said preliminary findings indicate the deaths of the elderly couple were coincidental. Officials added that they are currently awaiting final reports from the medical examiner.

At this time, police say there is no indication of foul play and the incident is not being investigated as a criminal matter. Officials indicated the deaths appear to be related to natural causes and/or substance abuse, though the investigation remains ongoing pending final determinations from the medical examiner.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Buffalo Grove Police Department.
