Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have reportedly gone their separate ways after nearly three years as a couple.

According to PEOPLE, a source close to the pair confirmed that the Wicked co-stars ended their relationship amicably after giving the decision “a lot of time and careful consideration.” The insider also revealed that the breakup actually occurred several months ago and has remained private until now.

Grande and Slater first sparked romance speculation in July 2023 after meeting on the set of the highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked. Their relationship quickly became one of Hollywood’s most talked-about romances, with fans following the pair’s journey from co-stars to partners. The couple later made their relationship Instagram official in November 2024.

Despite ending their romantic relationship, sources say there is no animosity between the two. Both remain supportive of one another and have maintained a close friendship following the split.

The news arrives during a particularly busy chapter in Grande’s career. The Grammy-winning singer recently launched her highly anticipated Eternal Sunshine World Tour on June 6 and is preparing for the release of her eighth studio album, Petal, scheduled to arrive on July 31.

Sources describe Grande as being in a positive place and focused on her professional commitments as she enters another major era of her career.

Meanwhile, the former couple’s connection to the Wicked franchise remains significant. Grande stars as Glinda alongside Slater’s portrayal of Boq in the blockbuster musical adaptation, and both have spent the past several years promoting the project. Their professional relationship is expected to continue as anticipation builds for the upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good.

While their romance may have reached its final chapter, both Grande and Slater appear to be moving forward on good terms, prioritizing friendship and their respective careers as they enter new phases of their lives.
