Jamaica delivered a record-breaking performance at the 2026 World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, clocking a historic 39.99 seconds in the mixed 4x100m relay. The time marks the first sub-40-second run in the event’s history and officially sets a new world record.

The Jamaican quartet—featuring Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson, and Tia Clayton—dominated their heat from start to finish, showcasing elite speed and clean baton exchanges on the global stage.

Great Britain finished second in the same heat with a time of 40.72 seconds, trailing Jamaica’s groundbreaking performance.

The record-breaking run not only secured Jamaica’s place in the final but also reinforced the nation’s continued dominance in sprint relay events. The mixed 4x100m relay, still a relatively new addition to international competition, continues to evolve—and Jamaica has now set the benchmark for the rest of the world.

With momentum on their side, all eyes are now on the final to see if Jamaica can extend their dominance and lower the mark even further.
