LOCAL: Multiple Small Roadside Fires Reported Along Green Bay Road in North Chicago

Fire crews responded to a series of small roadside fires Wednesday afternoon in North Chicago after multiple calls reported flames along Green Bay Road.

According to dispatch audio summarized by CrimeRadar, emergency units were first sent around 3:25 p.m. CDT to the area of Green Bay Road and Audrey Nixon Boulevard for an outside fire. Additional callers then reported several small fires stretching southbound near 14th Street and toward 10th Street.

Responding personnel on scene described at least one small fire at Green Bay Road and 14th Street, while another fire was reportedly located roughly 500 feet farther down the roadway.

Officials indicated the fires appeared minor in nature and were manageable by crews already on scene. Dispatch later confirmed units were handling the situation and command was terminated shortly afterward.

No injuries, evacuations, or structural damage were reported in connection with the incident.

The cause of the fires has not been officially released. Authorities have not announced whether the fires were accidental, weather-related, or intentionally set.

Residents traveling through the Green Bay Road corridor may have noticed emergency activity in the area during the response.
