Metra’s Union Pacific North Line experienced service disruptions in North Chicago on Wednesday afternoon as firefighters responded to multiple brush fires near the tracks, according to transit officials.

Several trains were temporarily halted while crews worked to contain the fires burning alongside the rail line. Limited service resumed later in the evening, though riders should anticipate significant delays.

Aerial footage around 4:30 p.m. showed multiple fires along the tracks, with visible smoke rising into the air.

North Chicago fire officials reported several active fire sites along Sheridan Road and advised motorists to seek alternate routes while emergency crews remain on scene.
